Since joining the Law Offices of Barbara A. Bowden in 2012, Tony Garguile has demonstrated excellence through his client-oriented approach to law. Like Barbara, it was a family member’s legal profession that initially motivated him to become a lawyer. His great uncle is a licensed attorney in Kansas City. As a child, Tony always admired his great uncle and the prestige he obtained from the legal profession; his uncle even worked on a few big cases involving Major League Baseball.
Tony’s legal career has taken a vastly different path, but he’s applied what he’s learned from his great uncle’s sincere professionalism and consistent client-centered approach to his own practice of the law.
Tony was born and raised in Bremerton, Washington. He earned his B.S. in Economics from the University of Washington. After earning his B.S., Tony headed east to Spokane, where he earned his J.D. from Gonzaga University School of law. He was admitted to the Washington State Bar in 2011. He has also been admitted to the U.S. District Court, Western District of Washington. He is a member of the Tacoma Bar association. His legal career began in the Kitsap and Spokane County Prosecutor Offices where he worked in both District and Superior Court. These experiences help bring a unique perspective to current cases, having worked from both sides of the table.
“We solve real world problems every day, and at the end of the day that makes me proud of the work I do.”
His favorite part of being an attorney is helping the people who really need his help, giving him the opportunity to use the law to make someone’s life better. Through his work as a traffic defense lawyer, he has the opportunity to meet and represent a number of people. All of his clients have challenged him with problems that are always different, interesting, and intellectually stimulating—sometimes entertaining, but never boring. It is that challenge and that excitement that keeps him so interested in what the law can do for people.
“I communicate with clients openly and often, being extremely responsive to their needs, anticipating issues that may arise, and providing appropriate advice and counsel.”
When Tony’s not in the office, you can find him immersed in his other passion: music. According to Tony, there is absolutely nothing like seeing a great band live, and its something he enjoys doing frequently.
Tony also takes time to relax and play his favorite sport, basketball. He plays at 5 am, three mornings a week at the downtown Tacoma YMCA. He’s a diehard Husky football and basketball fan! #GODAWGS. He also roots for the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, and Gonzaga Bulldogs, but only when they are not playing UW. He’s patiently holding out hope that one fateful day the Sonics will return to Seattle.
