Attorney
Some people know exactly what they want to be when they grow up even at a young age. Ross was one of those lucky few. As a kid he loved watching Matlock at his grandmother’s house and he decided early on that he wanted to be an attorney just like the main character. He watched Matlock convince the jury of his client’s innocence, episode after episode.
“I was drawn to the idea of helping those who would not otherwise have the voice to assist themselves.”
So, armed with years of conviction that this was his calling, Ross made his way to Western Washington University where he obtained his BA in 2001 and then went on to Gonzaga University School of Law where he became a doctor of the law in 2010. He has been admitted to the Washington State Bar as well as the Tacoma/Pierce County Bar. Ross is admitted to practice criminal traffic defense and infraction/traffic ticket defense in all municipal, county, and superior courts in the state of Washington.
He has been recognized for his excellent work over the years, having received the Consumer Law Clinic Achievement Award and two awards of distinction during his two years of service at the Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. He also placed as a Trial Advocacy Semi-Finalist.
He loves the adversarial nature of his work and thrives in the courtroom. Of course, he knows the law and is able to apply it to the specifics of each case, but the real trick is reaching the members of the jury and convincing them that his clients should be acquitted of their charges. Part of this comes from taking the time to learn about each client and find out what makes him or her unique and then utilizing that information to achieve a favorable outcome, or at the very least a compromise.
“Both sides make the other better and while we do not always see eye-to-eye, we are able to reach common ground.”
Outside of the office, Ross loves to stay active. When the weather behaves, he likes to hike in the Olympics or the Cascades. He also enjoys yoga, going to the gym, reading, or watching a good, thought-provoking movie. He has an eclectic taste in music, from classical to rock to blues. He believes his varied tastes make it easier for him to relate to a variety of different clients. Ross is a person of compassion, in and out of work, and he loves connecting with people.
